MANILA, PHILIPPINES, 23 NOVEMBER 2018 – 30 Children’s Hour volunteers spent their Friday morning packing 500 Happy to Help school kits at Asociacion de Damas de Filipinas Inc. at Paco, Manila. These school kits will be deployed to Filipino children in need nationwide.

Children’s Hour held its second Happy to Help School Kit Packing Activity for the year. A second volunteer packing activity is held every year to give school kits to disaster-stricken areas and other far-flung communities in the country.

30 Children’s Hour Champions volunteered their time to pack school kits for Filipino children. The Children’s Hour School Kits are filled with basic literacy learning materials that will aid the children’s learning experience. These materials consist of pad papers, notebooks, pens, pencils, rulers, crayons, and the like; a pair of school shoes is also included in the kit. The volunteers also wrote affirmation notes for the children that can inspire them to reach for their dreams.

The 500 school kits will be deployed to Children’s Hour’s partner organizations and public schools nationwide.

“I am overflowing with gratitude that there are volunteers [like you] who attended our event and decided to spend their Friday with us. You could have been somewhere else, but you chose to be here to help us in our mission,” shares Ms. Patricia Mendoza, Senior Marketing & Communications Associate. “Today we witnessed these people's presence—all ready to lend a helping hand despite their busy schedules,” she added.

In light of the Children’s Month celebration, the children from Asociacion de Damas Filipinas Inc.’s daycare center surprised the volunteers with a heartwarming performance. The children showcased their talents and expressed their gratitude to the volunteers through a song and dance number. The center previously received Happy to Help School Kits packed by our volunteers last June 7, 2018 as part of our Back-to-School Activities. School kits were also distributed to students in rural areas including Sagada, Batangas, and Bantayan Island in Cebu.

Children’s Hour envisions a nation where Filipino children have access to their basic rights, such as the right to education, which will allow them to enjoy a happy, safe, and fulfilling future. This is achieved with the help of the foundation’s One Hour Campaign, where they invite individuals and companies to donate at least an hour’s worth of their annual salary. With your continuous support, Children’s Hour can help more children nationwide to achieve their dreams.
