MANDALUYONG CITY, Philippines, 13 July 2019 — GOLDEN ABC, Inc. (GABC), in partnership with Children’s Hour, launched their series of friends-raising activities for the benefit of the children of Alay Pag-asa Christian Foundation, Inc. (Alay Pag-asa) in Mandaluyong.
During the Children’s Hour Annual Benefit Lunch last 12 March 2019, GABC turned over their One Hour Campaign donation in support of Children’s Hour’s projects. They were awarded the One Hour Pioneer Award for being one of the first and consistent donors of Children’s Hour. Their previous One Hour Campaign donation provided 2,000 Happy to Help School Kits to children afflicted by the armed conflict in Marawi.
For this year, the beneficiary of their “Get Up for Kids!” initiative is the Alay Pag-asa Christian Foundation, Inc. in Mandaluyong. Alay Pag-asa caters to children who belong to the indigent families of Mandaluyong. They believe that school feeding programs serve as platforms for human development and children’s early development.
Through the KAON Project (Kids Attaining Optimum Nutrition) of Children’s Hour and GABC’s donation, a total of 102 kids are able to have nutritious meals for one school year. They will also have timely and educational activities with volunteers from GABC. These activities will be instrumental in fueling the children's bodies and minds, helping them reach their full potential.
This series of outreach activities started off with “Making Healthy Food Choices,” in line with the Nutrition Month this July. The beneficiaries learned about the food pyramid and planned healthy meals based on what the GABC volunteers taught them. This learning activity will help the children be more aware and mindful about what they eat.
GABC’s "Get Up for Kids!" series of friends-raising activities with Children’s Hour will run until January 2019. Their next activity will celebrate nationalism to coincide with the Buwan ng Wika in August. GABC has been a Children’s Hour Champion since 2004, mobilizing their employees and business partners under its CSR platform called GET UP. Since then, the company was able to contribute in the Foundation’s mission through their annual employee and corporate donations, classroom-building initiatives, and friends-raising activities, among others.
Children’s Hour envisions a nation where Filipino children have access to their basic rights, such as the right to education, which will allow them to enjoy a happy, safe, and fulfilling future. This is achieved with the help of the foundation’s One Hour Campaign, where they invite individuals and companies to donate at least an hour’s worth of their annual salary. With your continuous support, Children’s Hour can help more children nationwide to achieve their dreams.
