Children’s Hour’s project, CommUnity Through Literacy, has been improving the reading comprehension skills of children in Alabel, Sarangani. A project assessment has been recently conducted at 3 of the 33 schools wherein the reading intervention is being implemented with great results. Children in the whole municipality of Alabel have been showing marked improvements in comprehending their reading materials. Projects like Community Through Literacy are made possible because of the one hour donations of Children’s Hour friends and donors.

L’Oreal, world’s largest and most trusted cosmetic and beauty company, believes that every Filipino child is worth it as the company rallied their employees to support Children’s Hour. L’Oreal Philippines Managing Director, Luc Olivier-Marquet turned over their monetary donation to Children’s Hour Chair, Emily Abrera. Funds were raised through the Children’s Hour campaign wherein employees donated their one hour salary equivalents. L’Oreal Philippines embarked on a successful year of giving with Children’s Hour last 2011 starting with the annual Citizen Day last June. L’Oreal has also chosen Children’s Hour as the beneficiary for their Be a Superhero Santa last December. Proceeds of this Christmas event were used to buy school supplies for students of San Juan Nepomuceno School in Pasay City.

Human Resource Contact Centers (HRCC), the umbrella association of HR practitioners in voice-based BPO companies, recently turned over their donation to Children’s Hour. HRCC raised funds through their annual talent contest among BPOs, the HR Icon. Funds raised through this initiative will be directed to the Batang Pilipino Ang Pag-asa project giving disadvantaged youths possible employment in the BPO industry.

Grundfos Pumps Philippines, in partnership with Children’s Hour, holds its first volunteer activity under their BE>>>THE>>>CHANGE CSR Program. Grundfos General Manager, Mr. Rick Holland, together with 30 employees, helped build homes in the Habitat for Humanity site in Navotas. After the build, employees were able to interact with 120 children through a fun-filled sportsfest. Grundfos Pumps Philippines is one of Children’s Hour’s newest partners for the Friends-Raising Program, Children’s Hour’s volunteer program.
