Mission-Driven Agenda

As we enter our second decade of operations, Children’s hour has optimized and expanded its involvement to social development by aligning its priorities with the Philippine Development Plan and defining its strategic thrust. The ongoing economic and social pressure that massively affects Filipino families, most especially those living in poverty, has shaped the Children’s Hour mission of promoting education for all, health and nutrition and child protection.

- Thrust

  • EDUCATION

Children’s Hour aims to provide quality education for all, equity in the education premises, reduce the increasing number of dropouts and repetition and increase the rate of graduating students.

  • HEALTH & NUTRITION

Children’s Hour is working to reduce the increasing rate of malnutrition and hunger in the Philippines.

  • CHILD PROTECTION

Children’s Hour strives to combat cases of child abuse, sexual exploitation, child labor and child trafficking

- Priorities

  • POOREST & VULNERABLE

While a lot of attention is given to impoverished communities in and nearby Metro Manila, the poorest families in the Philippines are largely in Mindanao and in the upland and coastal areas. Children’s hour endeavors to reach out to these communities and prioritize assistance for these groups that are often overlooked and are the most vulnerable.

  • EXCLUDED GROUPS

Excluded groups of children such as the Muslims, indigenous and minority children, street children, those with disabilities and children living in armed conflict areas do not get adequate access to facilities for health, nutrition, education and other basic social services. Thus, Children’s Hour directs many of our resources towards providing children from these groups with the best opportunities possible so that they can grow into successful and independent adults.

  • ACTION PROGRAMS

Children’s Hour aims to provide support to action programs that are aligned to our mission of promoting education for all, health and nutrition and child protection. The Children’s Hour program prioritizes offering direct assistance, institutional development and organizational strengthening, capacity development and action research.
